The Rock

After the dramatic start with “My King” on the LP I wanted to have an uptempo song that takes the listener right away so the first songs that came to my mind are Deep Purple´s Burn, Ozzy Osbourne´s Bark at the moon and Dio´s We Rock with that said I wanted to create in that style.
The songs I mentioned above are very direct with a strong chorus. and The Rock was the first song me and Stephen wrote together.

This song have elements of early heavy metal & hardrock and will not deny I love Ronnie James Dio´s voice and his way of singing has been an important vocal influence for me.

It was that kind of song elements I had in my mind when I wrote it with Stephen. Lots of melodic guitars in harmonies mixed with energized drum beat and bass that takes you further as a listener with the Moog synthesizer that adds the extra flavor. On top of all music a soaring strong lead vocals with a powerful vocal harmonies in the chorus.

We also used the phaser effect on the drums in the intro of the song. I was listening to the album Off the record by The Sweet from 1977 you hear this cool phaser effect in the song “She Gimme Lovin” and since I was a young boy I love this sound and played it over and over on my record player in late 1970´s.
The lyrics deals about the strange situation we have in the world right now. Which leader stand for the truth and who do you follow?! When the storm wind is coming where is my solid rock to hold on to?!

In my case I have my faith that always been my solid rock in my life since I was very young and you maybe have other things, but for me my faith has been the solid rock, the foundation that never falls and fails and there you have The Rock in my life. I am very happy how this first song turned out and it is also the first single and video from this album.
