Dead or Alive

Me and Stephen was a talking on the phone about songs and album and I said I love this shuffle beat that The Sweet and Uriah Heep used to have in their music especially 1970-1972 with songs like Easy Living and Done me wrong alright. Stephen got inspired and wrote and record a demo very fast and send it to me.


He said his organ sound is not so good, but you get the picture. When I heard the song I was blown away because I heard the melody right away and the organ sound was odd it has a vibe that still are used on the final recording.

I couldn´t believe we could create a song like this in 2020 and I don´t hear this style so often these days. Step by step I heard something fantastic coming both in music and lyrics.
You can hear elements from both Uriah Heep and Procol Harums in the intro and first verse of the song when it is only Hammond organ with Leslie and vocals.

Then harmony guitars enter in like Thin Lizzy and then to a great shuffle rhytms , guitar riffing and vocals like The Sweet in 1971 same year I was born and the chorus reminds a lot of Uriah Heep. David Byron & Brian Connolly of the The Sweet & Uriah Heep (R.I.P) are two vocalists I´ll never get tired to listen to so this song is really a tribute to them as well to Ken Hensley as he was a master of slide guitars and Hammond organ and we have a cool solo duel between Stephen & Olov in a fantastic way in the same vibe as the classic rock legends.

I can listen to these parts and the whole song over and over again and I´ll never get tired of it.
The song ends like it started the way songs were done in the early 1970´s with only Hammond organ and vocals.

The lyrics deals about that we all go through ups and downs in life. In my life I have an inner compass that leads me every day that I believe is the spirit of God. This inner voice shows me direction in life. I think it is very important to listen to your heart. Dare to stop and reflect as many of us rush a lot, even me, but I try like now when I write these words.

I meet so many people that have given up life and only you can make the difference. Dead or Alive listen to your heart!
